Quickie: The end of the semester.
Today was the last official session of the semester. No more speech therapy for at least 2 or 3 weeks. This means that I can turn off my Saturday Morning alarms and sleep late for a change. It also means that GFJ will want to be with me on Friday nights, nights when I now go out as Marian and socialize with women as a peer.
I'm glad that we will continue these sessions into the summer, as I am close enough to my vocal goals to have a speaking voice that most people will sense as female with the appropriate audio and visual cues. Although I can still hear the male harmonics in my voice, they are much less pronounced than when I started in these sessions.
So far, I've been through 3 clinical educators and 5 student clinicians. And I can easily say that this last woman has been the best of the student clinicians. But her age is likely a factor here, as she is at least 10 years older than the other student clinicians. This woman will do well in any endeavor she chooses, as she has a maturity appropriate for her age AND that she's young enough to gain from the investments she is now making in herself.
I look forward to a short Summer session with both my current clinician educator and my student clinician. When we parted today, we agreed to try and find a date between semesters where we all could get together for dinner. Hopefully we can do that before the Summer semester begins.
